Hello! Richa. Let us know about yourself.

Hey! So I am Richa, 18 years old, born on 13th June 1998. I’m currently living in Kanpur - my hometown, preparing for engineering entrance exams. I don’t have many life stories yet, until now my life has been quite straight. I have done my schooling from KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA. I had lived in Vadodara, Agra, Pathankot. I am the youngest one in family, both my elder brother and sister are working in reputed I.T firms. About friends, since the time I left school I am not in regular contact with everyone (I talk to them or meet them rarely), but there is my cousin and my best friend both are in college, they both are very close to me. I can crack jokes all day, lame ones most of the times. I easily get nervous at times. You will rarely (never) find me celebrating my birthday, new year etc. I am big fan of Hollywood Romantic genre movies. I am so much obsessed with these lines from my favourite movie The fault in our Stars:

“I am in love with you, And I know that love is just a shout into the void and oblivion is inevitable And that we all are doomed and that is one day all of our labour will be returned to dust and the sun will swallow the only earth we will ever have, And I am in love with you.”

Apart from that I am a die hard fan of The Big Bang Theory sitcom’s, Jim Parsons, Akshay Kumar and A.B. de villiers .

That’s sweet. So, how does it feel getting past your 100th quote and that too with such a mass number of audience in your followers list?

Well! This gives me a sense that a majority of readers are liking my work. It gives me goosebumps too, because I believe that making someone fall for your writings is a tough work, glad I am doing that.

Am just curious to know about what started you with writing?

Frankly speaking, I found my first love in English language. I love to maintain a diary and write. That’s how it all started. Earlier, I used to translate famous Hindi poems into English. Even in school days I was very much appreciated for my writing skills and speaking in English, maybe that’s a motivation factor today; also watching so many movies, listening to songs there has been always a feeling to develop something by myself. For me, the feeling I get during writing is just undefined, I don’t want to stop whenever I do. That’s all.

What is the most fulfilling thing about writing and how seriously do you take your writings?

The most fulfilling thing about writing is that you will never get tired of it. You will always want more and more of yourself. You get an opportunity to explore yourself without a voice. You write whatever you think, there are no boundaries; writing is a limitless love. It’s an invincible feeling. About how serious I am, I don’t pretend to be actually that serious. Many a times you can find me scribbling through in the last page of my every notebook. I see, listen, observe things and connect, though I have nothing particular. Writing makes me happy and light, that’s what matters the most.

What hooks you to YourQuote?

The user-friendly interface, simple and beautiful. And the fellow readers and writers, who appreciate you for what you write, not who you are.

Give us the names of writers from YourQuote who make you fall in love with their write-ups every time you read them.

Umm…Saurabh Pratap Singh (I love because I laugh), Vignesh Desle , Aditya Bafna, Parag Khara, Pritesh Sharma, Anjana(Iris), Pooja Singh, Debashis Sarmah, Prem, Bharath, Abhilekh and Ankur Chouksey. They bring a smile every time I go through their writings.

How have your studies and circumstances made an impact on your writing style?

Studies! Well, it doesn’t impact a lot or helped me to choose myself for writing. But yes! I am lucky that I got teachers who supported me. During school I have participated in debates and speeches that’s all. I remember going through a lot of articles, learning their styles, choosing quotes to write 3–4 pages. I was fun actually. For me even writing a sick leave application is fun :-p. Talking about circumstances, I have a big love for music, always craved for English one’s. I remember I used to write down lyrics in my diary also thanks to my elder siblings who always made me hook up to English channels even when I didn’t understand a single word. :-p (kidding).

We observed that you write about love most of the times and not to forget those witty quotes. What if a novel is written and you are the subject, what would you like to name it?

Oh!!! I am desperately waiting for that day. I would name that “Not to be revealed”, a sentence which is written on all my diaries. That simply means keeping my life secret to yourself .

Wow! That would be one catchy title. Now tell us where do get the ideas for your stories?

From everything that influences me: whether it is music, rain, love, smile, happiness, people, movies, friendship, stories and sometimes my personal life too. It may sound awkward but many a times I speak alone in a way that I am a particular character and write down things if I like. Or sometimes I just connect my favorite words to make something I believe in. More than music I listen to dialogues as a background sound during doing stuff. Believe in beauty of everything to explore them in your writings. Moreover, I write in such a way that a majority can relate to it.

What is the most important thing in a story for you?

The presentation of course, the way it is going to connect with the people.

The story should be as such readers can relate to it, not just use of fancy words to grab attention. Write from your heart, write in what you believe. Emotions too are important, and the story should have a brilliant ending.

Richa, if there is one thing you would like to change about your writing, what would it be?

I am so much confined to fewer topics to write so I would love to explore more topics. I know majority of my write-ups are romantic ones (maybe helpful to someone :-p). I want to write something inspiring to energize readers, also to be less cheesy at times.

What writers or writing style do you detest?

Literally there’s no one whom I detest. Every writer has got something different in him/her . Of course, not everyone will love you and your writings, there would be part of haters too.

But some writing styles I detest are: over use of fancy words for no reason, describing your personal heartbreak too much (or using it as the only topic you know about) and also copying styles of others.

Instead, I prefer original, deep and intense writings those that which touch your mind and soul.

I agree. Well now, about the reason that we are here. What role does YourQuote play in your life? How important is it to you?

A major role actually. :-) I remember how much I used to write in my diary just with a hope (a minor one) that one day someone will read it and appreciate it. I never have written anything on Facebook wall because I know half of the people will like anyway without reading. At YQ, people appreciate you for what you write, not who or what you are. Maybe 10 months ago I wanted someone to read my words, now I have fellow readers of 1400+ which is growing everyday. I guess I am into something now. Soon I am going to take a break from YourQuote due to my hectic study schedule but I will back soon for sure.

Oh, we’ll be missing you. So with so much appreciation do you think of taking writing as your passion or maybe profession in the coming future?

May be at this point I am too immature to answer this, writing as for a passion is doing pretty good as of now, but I would love to make this as a profession if ever I’ll get that golden chance. Currently, I just want to focus on my studies and want to write for no one else but for me as it gives me a feeling of relaxation. It’s the only companion lives with me 24*7. Else , I think I still need to improve in grammar, logically and must broaden my thinking to write something new or develop one. I am enjoying this way because you know that you are an amateur writer and you don’t need to take a lot of stress about how it is going to hit the readers about your stories. Moreover I believe in these lines of “Besabriyaa” from M.S Dhoni — “Kyu sochna h jana kaha, jaye vahi le jaye jaha”.

What change has YourQuote brought about in your life?

It has brought up the introvert writer in me to the extended world. I got so much recognition and appreciation too. I have made friends too of different age groups. Majority of them are senior to me. I have learned a bit grammatically and even different writing styles from fellow writers. Also at times watching myself in 4–5 position mostly, in popularity list gives me goosebumps too. The change is good indeed. I have learned, developed and explored.

What has been the greatest personal discovery for you?

I never knew that someone will even laugh at the jokes I write. :-p There are 3–4 witty stuffs I have written which receive huge attention, you know to which one I am pointing at. *giggles*

So basically developing a bit of wit and humour in my writings proved a good spice for me.

What is your favourite personal possession? Share a photo with a brief description.

Richa’s diaries — her favourite possession

Of course Diary writing, my childhood’s first love and still the best companion. They know me better than anyone else. They are keeping my writings from a long time.
